A practical course helping managers understand menopause, its workplace impact, legal responsibilities and supportive adjustments.
Menopause can significantly affect wellbeing, confidence, attendance & performance. This course provides managers with a practical understanding of menopause, its physical, cognitive & emotional effects, and how these can influence workplace experience. Delegates explore legal responsibilities, supportive conversations, confidentiality and reasonable adjustments that help employees remain productive, engaged & valued. Through realistic scenarios and practical tools, managers gain confidence in creating a menopause-friendly culture where staff feel safe, respected & supported.
Menopause affects individuals differently, with symptoms ranging from physical changes to cognitive and emotional impacts. When misunderstood or unsupported, these experiences can affect wellbeing, attendance, performance and workplace relationships. This course helps managers recognise symptoms, understand triggers, challenge misconceptions and implement supportive adjustments. It is suitable for managers, supervisors, HR professionals, business owners, employee representatives and individuals seeking to strengthen inclusive practice.
An employee experiences sudden temperature changes during meetings, affecting concentration & confidence.
A colleague struggles with memory lapses or reduced focus, impacting confidence in their role.
A manager feels unsure how to start a supportive conversation about menopause.
Menopause is a natural life stage, yet many employees feel uncomfortable discussing symptoms or seeking support. Reflection helps managers explore how workplace culture, communication styles and expectations may unintentionally create barriers for those experiencing menopause. By examining real examples, delegates gain insight into how symptoms affect concentration, confidence, attendance and wellbeing, and how supportive adjustments can make a meaningful difference. This reflective approach encourages managers to consider their own assumptions, recognise the diversity of menopausal experiences and understand the importance of confidentiality, empathy and fairness. It also highlights the legal responsibilities employers hold under the Equality Act 2010, including avoiding discrimination and providing reasonable adjustments. Through guided reflection, managers develop confidence in holding supportive conversations, implementing practical solutions and fostering a workplace culture where menopause is understood, normalised & openly supported.
Opening the conversation
“I want to check in with you because I’ve noticed you may be finding some aspects of work more challenging recently. If you’re comfortable, we can talk about anything that might be affecting you, including health or wellbeing.”
Normalising the topic
“Many people experience menopause or perimenopause differently, and it’s completely okay to talk about it here. My role is to support you.”
Exploring needs
“Are there particular symptoms or situations that are making work more difficult? What adjustments might help you feel more comfortable or supported?”
Agreeing actions
“Let’s identify a few practical adjustments we can put in place. We’ll review them together to make sure they’re working for you.”
Closing the conversation
“Thank you for sharing this with me. I’m here to support you, and we’ll keep this conversation confidential. Let’s stay in touch and review how things are going.”
