A practical and supportive course designed to build confidence, challenge bias and strengthen LGBTQIA+ inclusion across teams and workplaces.
This practical and supportive course helps delegates deepen their understanding of LGBTQIA+ identities, lived experiences & the barriers people may face in workplaces and communities. Through real examples, inclusive language practice & confidence-building activities, participants learn how bias, assumptions & everyday behaviours can impact LGBTQIA+ colleagues. The session equips learners with constructive strategies to challenge exclusion, strengthen allyship & embed visible, meaningful inclusion across teams, policies & organisational culture.
A team member repeatedly uses the wrong pronouns for a colleague, insisting it is “too difficult to remember”. Delegates explore the impact of misgendering, how to intervene constructively & how to model inclusive language.
During social conversations, LGBTQIA+ staff feel unable to share aspects of their lives due to jokes or assumptions. Learners examine subtle exclusion, microaggressions & ways to create safer, more respectful team environments.
LGBTQIA+ inclusion is shaped not only by policies but by everyday interactions, language and organisational culture. Many people want to be supportive but feel unsure about terminology, pronouns or how to challenge inappropriate behaviour without causing conflict. This course provides a reflective space to explore these questions with sensitivity and confidence. Delegates consider how upbringing, social messages and unconscious bias can influence assumptions, and how these assumptions may unintentionally exclude LGBTQIA+ colleagues.
Through lived experience examples, facilitated discussion and practical tools, learners build a clearer understanding of the challenges LGBTQIA+ people may face, including discrimination, microaggressions, invisibility and barriers to feeling safe at work. The session emphasises allyship as an active practice, encouraging participants to recognise their influence, model inclusive behaviours and contribute to a culture where everyone feels respected and able to thrive. By the end of the course, delegates will feel more confident using inclusive language, addressing concerns constructively and embedding supportive practices that strengthen belonging across teams and organisations.
